Car Insurance Saab (Car Insurance). Chevrolet repair questions?Chevrolet repair questions? i have a 89 chevy k1500. The motor only has 169 miles on it. My truck idles fine. When my engine is cooled off and i take it up the road it runs fine until the engine gets hot. I drove it up the road lastnight and when i got out my truck my manifolds were glowing red. Can anyone help me out. i hooked a computer up to it and the computer said it was running too rich.. Any answers???. if the manifolds are red hot then you have too much back pressure on the engine. the cat. converter can cause that. Was the On Board Diagnostics I (OBD-I) computer controlled fuel injection compatible with the new engine installed? Has an OBD-I "scanner" been hooked up to the computer to verify proper open loop and closed loop operation? Your dumping a lot of unburned fuel into the exhaust and you shouldn't drive the vehicle until the computer, oxygen sensor and fuel injection are operating properly in closed loop after the engine warms up. You can read out your own OBD-I computer error codes, but you also need to have an OBD-I scanner, preferably a GM scanner hooked to the computer. Usually to get that hot you have to have restricted exhaust. The restriction could be something like critters building a nest or just simply a bent pipe. Other thing could be the catalytic converter being clogged. The converter could be clogged from a past issue or it could be from the current rich condition. You will have to get the exhaust fixed then see if the code goes away. Dont drive it till you get it worked out or you will just end up plugging the new converter. How likely is it that I could have done permanent damage to my car? How likely is it that I could have done permanent damage to my car? So I bought a car that was running ver low on oil. It was running fine when bought it, and the mechanic said I could drive home and when I got a chance take it to him and get the oil changed. So I was planning on doing that, except my car's battery died, and it wouldnt start. I jump started it yesterday, and I heard a knocking sound comming from the engine, similar to the noise diesel cars make. Since I had jump started the car, Iet the engine run for 10 minutes parked in my garage, however, I did not revv it beyond 2000 RPMs and didn't drive it. I have asked about this already, and I have been told it could be a rod knock, I looked what that was online and basically shattered me in pieces to find out it's such a big problem. I just bought this car for school and dont have money to buy a new engine or buy a new car. I am hoping and praying to God that I can solve this problem by putting new oil in and using one of those Lucas additives. I was wondering, since I didnt revv the car too much, could the engine have been damaged badly? I am hoping to get at least 50K miles more, at least to make the car worht what I paid. It has 88K miles and it is a 2003 mitsubishi eclipse 2.4 L 4 cylinder. thanks car insurance. Auto parts : Timing Tape Dodge 2005. Tire Eagle 2006. Tire Bead Breaker Ford 2007. Tire Chain Geo 2008. Saab . How to Install an Outboard Lower UnitMarine outboards have two basic engine sections: the upper unit and the lower unit. The lower case contains the water pump, propeller shaft and gears, along with numerous seals, tubes and a shifting mechanism rod. Some outboards have long-shaft designs, where others have short-shaft designs. Lower units can be small and lightweight, as in the case of a 10-horsepower engine, or they can range up to the truly powerful and heavy 200-horsepower engines. Whatever the configuration or size, lower units all have a basic design that make them good candidates for removal and installation. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Floor jack Helper Wire brush Carburetor cleaner Rags Anti-seize lubricant Boat owner's manual Socket set and wrench Torque wrench ScrewdriversSuggest EditsItem AddWhy is it necessary?Done Step by Step : 1 Position the engine in the full down profile, if attached to the back of the boat's transom. You'll need the lower plate surface of the upper case horizontal, with no perceptible tilt. Adjust the electronic trim selector or manually pull the tilt bracket pin out of the adjustment notch on the motor and set the engine to a horizontal plane. Reinstall the adjustment pin. For safety, disconnect the negative battery cable, if so equipped, and remove the key from the ignition. 2 Clean the lower case mounting bolts with carburetor cleaner and a wire brush. Depending on the model, you will have six to 10 bolts. Dab the end of each bolt with anti-seize lubricant. Make sure the mating surface between the upper and lower case has no scale, oxidation or salt crust on the metal. If equipped with a vertical water tube, make sure it seats firmly on the bottom end, pointing up. Make sure the top slot and the seal for the tube have been cleaned. 3 Raise the lower unit with a floor jack and a helper if dealing with a large engine. Set the lower tail shaft of the lower unit on the spoon of the floor jack and gently pump the handle on the jack to raise the unit up toward the upper unit case. While your helper pumps the jack and holds the unit in place, guide the drive shaft up into the upper unit case, making sure the splines on the shaft align in the slot. Turn the propeller to turn the shaft so that it mates. 4 Align the water tube so the top of the tube fits into its slot. Hold the lower unit case about one inch from the upper unit case and look inside for the shift connection rod. Use your fingers to pull up on the lower rod so it approaches the upper shift rod. Place the rod coupler around both ends of the rod and align the groove. Install the small screw bolt into the coupler and tighten it with a socket or a flat-head screwdriver. 5 Have your helper raise the lower unit up higher until it is flush with the upper case. Start the mounting bolts by hand, nudging the unit back and forth to make the alignment. Use a socket to tighten the middle bolts first, then fan outward for the rest. Finish tightening the bolts with a torque wrench, according to your boat owner's manual specifications.
Saab . How to Remove an Oil Pan on a RangerYour Ford Ranger is a durable vehicle. The oil pan on your Ford Ranger holds your engine oil as it is circulated through the engine by the oil pump. The circulation of oil through your Ranger's engine is necessary to keep the engine from overheating. Over time your oil pan can sustain damages or even leaks. If this happens you can replace your own pan. In order to replace your pan, though, you will have to remove the old one first. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Jack Jack stands Socket set Drain pan Flathead screwdriver Step by Step : 1 Place your Ranger in neutral and jack up the front end. Place the jack stands under your front frame and lower your Ranger onto them. 2 Loacte the oil pan on your Ranger. Exact location may vary with different year of Rangers, but generally, the oil pan is located dead center near the front axle. 3 Remove the drain plug from your Ranger with a socket set. Allow all the oil to fully drain out into your drain pan. Replace the drain plug once all of the oil has drained out. 4 Locate the retaining bolts that are located around the perimeter of your oil pan. There are approximately 24 bolts. However, that number may vary with different years. 5 Remove all the oil pan retaining bolts. Pry your oil pan open and off with a flathead screwdriver. Tips & Warnings Removal of your oil pan will also give you direct access to your Ranger's oil pump. GREASE SUBLET REPAIRS CD n 0) AMOUNT 455 Part IV: Dealing with On-the-Road Emergencies Most shops charge you for the amount of time listed in the manual, no matter how little time it actually takes them to do it, and few shops keep a mechanic who can't "beat the book" by a substantial amount of time. If the hours seem right, multiply them by the shop's hourly rate to make sure that they've done the math right. Then check that the labor total is the same as that shown in the Totals column 0. 0 Parts used: Each part should be listed, with its price. Make sure that the costs have been added correctly and that the total is the same as that shown in the Totals column of the invoice. Saab . How do you remove a door panel on a 1984 Mercedes 300d?
you have to remove window crank and door handel first GMC Savana Cutaway. * O Subcontracted repairs: This area should show all the work that was sent out of the shop to be done by a specialist. The total costs should be repeated in the Totals column. 0 Totals: All the charges in the previous sections are repeated and totaled in this column. You pay the final figure. In addition, every invoice should have a space for 0 a written estimate and 0 a number where you can be reached if necessary. You'll be asked to sign the estimate. Be sure to read the small print above 0 the signature line before you sign. The small print should cover only your approval of the estimate and the fact that you're willing to allow the technicians to drive your vehicle in order to test, diagnose, and repair it. The reverse side of the invoice often contains information about the shop's warranty and the mechanic's lien, which allows service facilities in some states to sell your vehicle if you refuse to pay for services. For this reason, if a dispute occurs, you should always pay your bill and then seek restitution. As I mentioned earlier, credit cards really come in handy in these situations. To get satisfaction, be sure to read the section called "Complaining Effectively," later in this chapter. Saab . How spark plugs produce high voltage?
